Admissions
At Sutton-on-Sea Community Primary School, we welcome all children, including those with disabilities or special educational needs (SEND). We are proud to be an inclusive school where ‘everyone can achieve’.
Our Approach
We follow the Lincolnshire Local Authority Admissions Policy, which ensures that no child is refused a place on the grounds of a disability or special educational need as set out in the Equality Act 2010.
All applications for school places are considered fairly and are in line with our usual admissions procedures. We work closely with parents and carers and the Local Authority to make sure the right support is in place before a child starts school.
Before Admission
When a child with additional needs is due to start, we:
Meet with the parents and speak to any professionals/prior settings to plan for a smooth transition.
Visit the child in their current setting wherever possible.
Arrange extra visits or a staggered start if this will help the child to settle confidently.
Identify and put in place any reasonable adjustments to the environment or curriculum before they begin.
Ongoing Support
Once a child is admitted we:
- Continually review their needs through the Graduated Approach (Assess – Plan – Do – Review).
- Involve parents and pupils in planning and decision making.
- Liaise with external agencies where appropriate.
Our aim is to ensure that every pupil can participate fully in school life and achieve their potential.
