Welcome to Year 5
A message from Mr Richardson...
Hello and welcome to Year 5!
I am Mr Richardson and alongside me in the classroom is our amazing teaching assistant, Mrs Kirkham. In our class we love learning and the children enjoy taking part in fantastic and creative lessons in which they all have the opportunity to shine. I believe a happy and fun learning environment creates a perfect atmosphere for children to learn in. I love having a joke and a laugh and I think it is important for the children to see that teachers are not robots.
Our PE days are on Mondays and Thursday so please remember to have the correct PE kit in school for these days. Make sure you have your reading books and reading records in school each day and we encourage the children to read as much as they can in home and at school.

Children can earn dojo points, share their work with you and you can see what we've been up to on our class story!
TTRS!
Times Table Rock Stars is a fun app to help your children learn their times tables! They can earn certificates for going green! Each child has their own log in which they can use in school and at home!
Reading Records
Every child has been sent home with a reading book and a reading record. We aim to read with your children as much as possible, but to build fluency, we ask that children read at home three times a week! This can be a reading book or a reading for pleasure book!
Home Learning
Every term, we send home topic home learning which is a menu of fun activities to do which relate to our current learning. Every Thursday we send our weekly home learning which focuses on our current learning in English, maths and spelling. This practice will really help your child's understanding!
